Park your vehicle and let it sit for a minimum of 4 hours with no load on the batteries. (No lights or accessories.)

Now, utilizing the chart below, check the voltage of your batteries based on the temperature and battery type using a digital volt meter: (Example below is for a standard battery measured at 80 degrees Fahrenheit.)

• 12.65 volts =  good and indicates proper charging.
• 12.50 volts =  acceptable but needs to be monitored as the batteries age.
• 12.40 volts or lower = not acceptable and is a sign that your charging system is not adequately charging your batteries
